BACKGROUND

This year’s Memorial Day weekend will publicize the American servicemen’s POW/MIA issue and educate the public, with two days of events, in Michigan, co-sponsored by the dealership and Rolling Thunder®, Inc. (East Michigan Chapter 5).

These events in Michigan are part of the 36th annual nationwide Ride for Freedom activities also taking place on May 25-26.  There are over 90 chartered chapters throughout the United States and members abroad.

Rolling Thunder® Mission Statement

  • Honor all who fought in a war and came home safely, those who came home injured physically and mentally, those held prisoner-of-war or missing-in-action, and especially those who died for our Safety, our Freedom, and our Country.
  • Educate the public that many American prisoners of war were left behind after all previous wars.  (More than 80,000 American service personnel are missing from previous conflicts and 38,000 are estimated to be recoverable.)
  • Help correct the past.
  • Protect future left-behind should they become prisoners-of-war or missing-in-action.
  • Rolling Thunder® is also committed to helping American veterans, from all wars.
